In this article, we would like to share the differences in connectors used on 1989–1997 Toyota Hilux corner lights. In fact, the situation is the same for both 4×2 and 4×4 models. For demonstration purposes, we use the 4×4 corner light as an example.
Below are the 1992–1997 corner lights, which come in two different versions.
From the front, both versions look identical, and the mounting points are exactly the same.
The overall height is also identical, measuring 20 cm (7.87 inches). However, the key difference lies in the details—the wiring harness on the back is completely different.

In addition, the connectors are not interchangeable. When shopping online, it is easy to overlook the rear wiring and accidentally purchase the wrong version. If this happens, there is no need to worry.
As mentioned above, both corner lights share identical external dimensions, so you can simply swap the original vehicle connector. As for the extra socket, it can be resolved by connecting it with the appropriate connector from another wire, as shown in the image.
